“We started working with Maureen for Rally classes with our very large puppy. Finn ADORES coming to class and getting to see his ‘friend’ Maureen and has made amazing progress. We have since been working on boundary setting in and around the house in preparation for another fur baby. Maureen makes training fun (for both the dogs and their humans!) – the way it should be!”

“My dog loves Maureen!! I have taken Rally Obedience class and am taking Game Night with Our Dogs class and they are both fun for the dog and their handler! Maureen is a great trainer because she understands dogs and can read their behavior and feelings. Every time we are in class and Maureen comes around to each dog to practice new concepts, I can see how engaged my dog is to learn. I can also see the true passion that Maureen has for working with dogs that is reflected in her interactions with them. Highly recommend any classes with Bee A Good Dog!”

“I was able to go to Maureen’s free puppy socialization class at the Wag’n Wash in Broomfield right after we brought our pup home. Maureen has an uncanny sense about dogs and who they are by observing them. She knows how to handle pups in any situation and can read their behavior. As a professional canine behaviorist, she can tell what what training modifications to make regarding changing a dogs path into the world. Maureen is a very caring trainer and incorporates only positive reinforcement for behavioral problems. As a dog sport trainer, I value Maureen’s input into any training situation.”

“I am so glad to have a trainer that I may look to as a mentor and collaborator as I train my dogs. A trainer that can help troubleshoot an issue is invaluable! I can send videos and receive feedback as to how I am training a particular activity and receive tips to help keep the fitness of my dogs first and foremost as we work together. Maureen is very encouraging and gives a lot of very positive ideas to enhance our training sessions. I very much appreciate her insight, expertise, and experience.

“Thank you, Maureen, for providing a great class for my baby dog to learn to work with me!”

“I had the privilege of working with Maureen for a couple of years helping people train their own service dogs with Domino Service Dogs (DSD). As an assistant service dog trainer, I worked under the direction of Maureen as well as the head trainer for DSD. Maureen always used positive reinforcement, and used NO force, fear or pain in her training. I learned a great deal from Maureen as we worked together in training classes. I also had the privilege of observing a few of her canine conditioning classes. Again, I found Maureen to handle the dogs with loving, positive reinforcement. I would highly recommend her fine classes without hesitation to anyone who is seeking competent, loving classes for their dogs.”

“My dog and I love taking classes with Maureen. She is fun, knowledgeable, and most of all calming. We are learning a lot in this class and look forward to it every week.”

“I just want to take the time to give a big thanks to Maureen! She has helped my 10 month old puppy Champ with so many issues he had. He was scared to go out and walk. He would pull on his leash and bark. He was scared of the world. Thanks to Maureen and her positive reinforcement method Champ has become less scared of walking.
Champs behavior at times was roudy and out of control. She worked to set positive boundaries for me as well as him as a result he is much more well behaved and is extremely prone to commands. Maureen was also so kind to lend us some of her personal training supplies which helped Champ and I. Thanks to her my house is no longer a Champ tornado! I can’t thank her enough and I highly recommend her as a trainer and a good friend.”

“Maureen’s Rally Obedience class is so much fun! It is not only a challenge for my puppy, but also for me. She is great with dogs and truly understands them!”

“Lucia and I have been working with Maureen since Lucia was 10 weeks old. She is now 16 months old. Lucia has taken classes from Puppy class to all the way up. Lucia and I have grown so smart, close and bonded. Lucia has so much joy in learning every day in a happy, positive, and most importantly a loving way. Maureen has taught me that positive reinforcement teaching is so good for our sprits. I happen to walk into a pet store and found Maureen standing there. My life along with Lucia’s has not been the same. Nothing but love flows between Lucia and me. I’m so excited and honored to have Maureen there for us always learning more and more. She definitely has her whole in her teaching. There is no other better out there.”

“Lakota and I have worked with Maureen for about 7 months. I was looking for a trainer that used positive reinforcement and received her name through a referral.
Maureen did a phenomenal job educating me on the benefits of positive training by giving me all of the tools I needed (e.g. providing hands on experience, handouts and additional topics to research). She not only demonstrated outstanding abilities as a trainer but displayed her passion for developing well trained happy puppies and more importantly good pet parents.
I appreciate that she is always willing to continue expanding her knowledge so that she can provide us with the best training possible.
Lakota loves Maureen and is always excited to see her and of course as well behaved as I think he is, he is always much better with her!”

“I desperately needed help teaching my 5 year old Golden Retriever, Sadie, to walk “politely” on a leash. Her pulling and inattention made going for walks very difficult and not enjoyable at all. I had tried other things including a choke collar and a one-time training session with a trainer that was very harsh with her which was not to my liking. But after doing some online research, I was so lucky to have found Maureen and Bee a Good Dog! Maureen’s method is strong and assertive yet gentle and very affirming! Sadie responded to Maureen immediately and learned quickly who was in charge. Sadie would get so excited every time Maureen came to our house for her training sessions and couldn’t wait to go out on their walks. Maureen taught me how to relax and let Sadie know that I am the leader, and to control her with a positive yet firm touch. Sadie has improved immensely and our walks get better and better everyday. I was worried it was too late to teach Sadie how to be a polite walker, but Maureen showed me that it is never too late. Maureen truly loves dogs and I believe she can work with any age and any bad habits — including the owner’s!! If you want someone that will train you and your dog with firm control in a loving, supportive manner — then Bee a Good Dog is for you!”

“It is with great delight that I write this review for Maureen Stevens of Bee a Good Dog. Maureen worked with my service dog, Dr. Seuss and I for almost twelve months. During that time, she demonstrated outstanding abilities as a dog trainer, as well as displaying a lasting commitment to her role as a volunteer dog trainer for an organization that assists individuals training their own service dogs. Maureen’s work is of the highest quality; her devotion to the human-animal bond is unwavering, and she values expanding her skills and on-going self-development. Her non-aggressive, positive, motivational training techniques and her skill and patience helped Dr. Seuss master his loose leash walking, impulse control, curtail his socializing in public and interaction with other dogs. He loved working with Maureen and would always be excited to see her on Sundays for training. The skills I learned as a service dog handler are invaluable to me. Dr. Seuss and I are a confidant service dog team in public because of the training we received working with Maureen. I highly recommend Bee a Good Dog and Maureen Stevens to anyone who wants a positive training experience and a truly wonderful bond with their dog.”

“Maureen is the most valuable asset I have had during these first few months of having a new 10-week-old Weimaraner Puppy! I was fortunate enough to be connected with her immediately upon bringing my puppy home. Despite being a huge animal lover, I hadn’t had a puppy in 14 years and was surprisingly terrified. From the moment she came to my home and started working with my puppy, I knew I had found a gem. Using positive reinforcement techniques, she had the little devil sitting, going into her crate, waiting in the crate until she said it was time to come out. She gave me advice on how to crate train – size of crate, what to use and what not to use for padding, how to show my puppy her crate was a place where good things happen, how to keep my sanity during this process, when to be strong and let my puppy cry and when it was enough. We immediately started working with loose leash walking, impulse control, socializing in public, and interaction with other dogs. Her non-aggressive, non-punitive, motivational training style puts my dog’s mind at ease as well as my own. I continue to utilize her services for dog sitting, day care, and continued training. Needless to say, I don’t think I could have survived this time without Maureen. It is because of her that I have such a great relationship with my dog. I highly recommend starting out on the right foot with Maureen and her positive reinforcement training techniques so that you end up with an amazing adult dog and companion that you can be proud of!”

“Maureen did a great job with our 12-week old miniature poodle. In 2 weeks she established a solid foundation of skills and really jump started Rafi past the traditional puppy class. Rafi loves her crate, walks nicely on her leash, has a rock solid “drop it”, and is well on her way to a solid outdoor “come”. Maureen did nice job with Rafi.”
